The Johnson City Chamber of Commerce celebrated their 102nd year during the Membership meeting that took place at the Millennium Centre on January 25th, 2017. Thomas C. McKee became the 40th inductee into the Chamber Hall of Fame. His daughter Lauren Kenny introduced her father for the honor.

McKee is a Senior Partner at Herndon Coleman Brading & McKee with a strong history of serving the community and the legal profession. He is member of the Washington County Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American Council Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association.

McKee served the City of Johnson City as a member of its Board of Commissioners for twelve years, twice as Mayor. Under his leadership, property tax increases provided needed funding for city school salaries and facilities. Woodland Elementary School and the Johnson City Public Library were built.

Water and sewer rate increases allowed for upgrades to the system. Liquor by the drink was passed, allowing for growth and development of our hospitality industry. A proposal to the State of Tennessee to address road access to ETSU and the VA allowed for the development of State of Franklin Road. In addition, Winged Deer Park became a reality during his last term.

McKee also served The Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Boards, serving as Chair for The Chamber in 1996. He has served on numerous community boards and was a member of the founding Board of Directors for the Dawn of Hope.

McKee is passionate about Johnson City, as evidenced by his service over the years. He is a proud husband, father, brother, and grandfather. The McKee Family legacy of service to the community continues with Tom and his family.
